Interbranch Council

Interbranch Councils (IBC) were formed in the 1980s to enable branches in one or more counties to act together on county matters related to AAUW's Mission Statement.

The AAUW-CA bylaws state: "Branches may speak with one voice on issues of that area by participation in the council." Multi-branch events, sharing of information, community coalitions, connecting the state with the branches, identifying problems and suggesting solutions are all part of the function of the council.

Interbranch Councils:

  •  Establish positions on issues affecting the interbranch area
  •  Alert branches to act on intercity or intercounty issues
  •  Open channels of communication between branches
  •  Engage in activities that enhance and promote AAUW membership and program
  •  Comply with state and Association Use of Name policies
  •  File an annual report of revenues and expenditures at the close of each fiscal year with the AAUW-CA finance vice president, with a copy to the state office
